135mm Vivitar F2.8 OM

A news lens came in the mail yesterday, a Vivitar 135mm F2.8 OM mount, that I picked up on ebay. I haven’t had much time to play with yet due to chores and that it didn’t come with a lens cap, so I didn’t want to chance damaging it in the field. Nevertheless, according to conversations on various Olympus photography related forums, this lens is supposed to be a decent prime compared to the Olympus Zuiko equivalent and for a cheaper price, just $40 dollars, I had to buy it. Photography at an Anime Convention with an Olympus FL-50r

July 6, 2010

Albeit my third time at AnimeNext three weeks ago with my camera, I’m still relatively new to bustle of cosplayers and trying to photograph them in a convention setting. Moreover, being sick over the convention weekend didn’t assist matters and kept me inside the hotel a bit longer than I initially intended. Welcome to Shot to Shot

July 6, 2010

First off, you maybe wondering, why is the web address instead of Well this is, after all, my blog about my photography and I wanted to keep it synonymous with my contact information that most people know me by; but honestly, I was indecisive about what to call my blog. So for the time being “Shot to Shot” is the temporary name that may evolve into something more, and when the time comes, the site will follow suit.

Overall, this is my first time blogging. Although I had experience writing news articles for my high school and college newspapers, blogging seems to pertain towards a completely different experience for me. It’s not everyday that I put my writing out into the world to be read, moreover my personal thoughts.

My goals for this blog: Keep it structured, keep it interesting, and most of all, keep it moving. By developing quirky regular postings such as “Marco Mondays” as well as creating additional projects for myself, I hope to grow as a photographer and provide interesting content for my readers.

Thanks for stopping by and I hope you will continue reading.

P.S.: You may notice two previous articles prior to this post. They’re from an earlier version of a blog that I developed in class several months ago with plans to develop them into something larger. I hope you find the content enjoyable.

Quick Event Portraits

December 16, 2009

Last Thursday my college held a cosplay dance party called Rasengan III (in which I did the poster for). Two weeks before that on November 24, my college also held a Pep Rally for their sports and offered a series of free events for participants. For both, it was a perfect opportunity for me to try out my new studio equipment in the field.

Going Portable

November 10, 2009

Due to the lack of owning or having access to a photography-equipped studio at the moment, I mostly rely on the outdoors for my portraiture shooting. However, although the sun is both a good source of light (if used properly with shadows and white boards) and the cheapest, it is always affected by the weather and its direction cannot be controlled. Thus, in order better increase my own control of light sources and my skills as photographer, I need to find a cheap and inexpensive way setup a small studio space wherever I go.
